Volunteer rangatahi coaches wearing Whangārei Netball Centre’s new t-shirts

This season Whangārei Netball Centre have been working to recognise their volunteers who play a crucial role by contributing their time, skills, and energy across the essential areas of netball.

Sue Robertson, Whangārei Netball Centre Board member, says it was important to them to find ways to recognise their volunteers.

“Saying ‘thank you’ is always great and well received, but sometimes a little something extra is the right thing to do.”

“Not much happens in sport without volunteers, and with money tight, our volunteers truly are our lifeline,” says Sue.

3 Cheers for our Volunteers

Sue says this year the team decided to print tee-shirts for their volunteers with the previous successful message of ‘keep calm and let the kids play’ on the front and the new message of ‘3 cheers for our volunteers’ on the back.

“We wanted to recognise volunteers visually and encourage good behaviours at the centre,” says Sue.

T-shirts Having a Positive Impact

Sue says the t-shirts have been well received and the messaging has begun to have a positive impact.

“We’re plan on building on them for next season and look at other ways we can continue to recognise our awesome group of volunteers.”
