In May of this year, Netball Northern released its Auckland Region Netball Facility Plan 2024 to our netball centres and our wider netball community.

Since the plan was introduced, the Regional Facilities Working Group, led by Netball Northern CEO Phil Vyver, has been implementing the communication strategy and refining the implementation plan.

This month the Working Group will formally present the plan to Auckland Council’s Planning, Environment and Parks Committee, who’s role is to set the direction for the physical development and growth of Auckland.

Sharing our plan with Auckland Council

In presenting to the Planning, Environment and Parks Committee, we are providing a collective voice for netball in the Auckland Region explains Phil.

“The Plan includes robust research and analysis and clearly shows our priorities for netball facilities across Auckland for the next ten years.”

Advocating for netball facilities

Phil explains in presenting the Plan to the committee, it shows them we’ve done the work, and the plan will advocate for netball centres when they make applications to Council and the Facilities Investment Fund.

With an increasingly constrained and competitive funding environment, sports are expected to provide clear evidence to support facility investments explains Phil.

“We hope by presenting our Plan, we will ensure netball continues to secure the necessary investment to provide quality netball facilities.”
