Gathering insightful feedback, innovative ideas and aspirations was the main focus of the July Centre Connect Series.
Held at Kerikeri, Manurewa and Auckland’s Windmill Rd netball centres, these connection events aimed to hear the voices of the centres, to feed into Netball Northern’s strategic and operational planning.
Driving future strategy
Karyne Ross, the Community Netball Manager for Netball Northern, emphasises that the feedback and insights received will play a crucial role in shaping the zone's operational planning.
“We’ll also have the opportunity to feed this information to our Netball New Zealand Programme Lead colleagues, to assist them in their planning around community netball,” she says.
Being a part of the discussions
Anne Nicolson, Auckland Netball Centre Senior Games Liaison, who took part in the Auckland Centre Connect, says it was nice to be a part of the discussions to work together to develop a better netball for our zone.
“I'm an operational person, so it was lovely to hear what's happening,” she says.
“For us, to be able to give our knowledge and experiences, and have our voice listened to about what we experience, what we’d like to see in the future, and how we can make this happen, was great.”

Common themes
Karyne says a few of the themes that emerged from the three sessions, included that centres want to collaborate and work together on initiatives, and that sideline and on-court behaviour remains a challenge for them.
“We look forward to continuing to work through what we’ve gained from these sessions and seek further consultation with centres later in the year,” she says.
“Thank you to everyone who took the time to connect with us.”
